Historic Schoolhouse - Granite, Colorado

Granite, Colorado was once a thriving mining town in the 19th century that served as the county seat of Lake County (which originally comprised of the land of Chaffee and Lake counties). Situated on State Highway 24 in northern Chaffee County, under 50 people live in Granite on a year-round basis. The area is popular for whitewater rafting, kayaking, fly fishing and other activities because the Arkansas River flows through the town.
